Teasing This Chale With Kwaku Bonsam
Flashback to 2006: London. I'm on the hunt for a room and end up in a vibrant Ghanaian haven—immersing my life in a family full of Ghanaian friends, ghanaian rituals, ghanaian celebrations, and the unforgettable morning serenades of my mate Duke Sakyi (Miss you so much brother. Rest in Peace), passionately belting out gangsta rap tunes in the shower at 7 am. I swear, after a few months, I was more Ghanaian than banku! Living with my Ghanaian family in London was an epic experience, and they know who they are (and how epic were those years with all of them!). Now, feast your eyes on the visual identity below, inspired by Ghana's rich culture. It was crafted for one of my imaginary music producer alter egos, diving into the soulful rhythms of Africa. One day, Pedro might just find the time to bring this musical dream to life! (Fingers crossed, Chale!)
The name "Bonsam" originates (indirectly) from the Ghanaian tradition of assigning names based on the day of the week you were born. I was born on a Wednesday, which corresponds to the name "Kwaku." If you Google "Kwaku Bonsam," you'll understand the playful teasing I "endured" from my Ghanaian family.
