February 2006. I arrived in London from Pontypridd, Wales (the birthplace of Sex Bomb himself, Tom Jones—go Google it!) hoping to survive my first year in the big city. So there I was, nervously knocking on a door in Blackheath for a job interview with my new employer, a design studio called Fairlane57 (super cool name isnt it?). And who should answer but Mark from South Africa! And right beside him? Carla (Forever remembered. Rest in Peace), also from South Africa, with a dash of Portuguese flair for extra spice. Oh, and they have three dogs, Moose, Beatle and Bonnie! Talk about an adorable overload. It was like stepping into a quirky indie movie, only with more barking and canine shoe theft and fewer existential monologues. And guess what? Pedro here (that’s me, by the way) lands the job as a designer with this wonderfully quirky and super fun family quintet (I loved every single day I worked with this quintet—no exaggeration at all here. I miss you all!).

Fast forward a few months, and Carla and Mark have an idea for a new portal. They wanted it to be bursting with high definition video footage for everyone on the internet to enjoy. Naturally, they turned to yours truly for the visual identity concept. Thus, the name 1ZER08ZER0 was born, inspired by the highest video resolution available to consumers at the time. Because if you're going to dream, you might as well dream in high definition!
